not bad

soo. grades came in...
4 a's and 3 b's....
thats not terrible i suppose
i got an A in anatomy and physiology!! w00t for that! if anything i am proud of that one A

i just got done watching the "10th kingdom"
it was a good movie...a three disc long movie. but good non the less :-)

half way there

so the first semester is over. man. it was one heck of a semester. i had alot of fun, alot of stress, alot of...everything really. but it was good.

i learned to NOT take 7 classes when you are involved in other things (esp when those other things are pipers and theater (namely theater)).
i learned that college is not like highschool (class wise). you cant just study for a test the night before and do great on it. study skills are important to have in college (although, for the lack of studying i did, i did pretty well on my tests).
i learned that boy troubles dont get any less complicated in college.
i learned how you can miss someone even though you live in the same small room with them (didn't get to hang out with my roommate hardly at all).
i learned that giving of yourself (whether it be money or time or talents) is way better than anything you could receive.
i learned that there are some amazing people in this world and i am blessed to call some of them friends.

and i've learned other stuff too. but yeah. its been a good semester. the grades arent posted yet, grrrr, so i dont know how well i did grade wise, but soon enough we shall see.

i am looking forward to next semester
but now to relax and have fun at home :-D

honestly...

why now? why this semester?? why all at once??? why make this moment in my life be filled with even more complications????

why cant everything just be simple? some people have found that simple way...why cant it always be like that?? why are some people put through decisions and complications and doubt and heartbreak, while others simply find joy and love???

why did i add one more question mark after each question?

flabbergast is a fun word

w;t (wit)

the last theater production of the semester is over as of last night. what an experience that has been. i enjoyed it alot. i got to work with an amazing director and an amazing lead actress (who doesnt realize just how amazing she is). it was a very good play.
now that it is over i actually have free time. which is something i havent had for a many number of weeks. literally. i have gone from rehearsal to rehearsal, play to play. it will be nice to have time to actually see my roommate and non-theater friends. it will be nice to have time (before midnight) to do homework and study for the upcoming finals. free time will be nice.

and now the semester is almost over. we have two more weeks left. one week of regular classes, and then our week of finals....the semester has gone by quickly, time keeps flying faster and faster.

and man, this has truely been one heck of a semester. so many things have happened. some great, some good, some not so good...but all learning experiences. all things that are hopefully building and shaping me into someone god would want me to be...

same story second verse

i didnt feel well today....my stomach hurt for most of the day....not fun

you ever have those days where you feel like you are becoming slightly depressed?....i dont know. maybe its not so much depressed as it is apathy....

Apathy is a state of indifference — where an individual has an absence of interest or concern to certain aspects of emotional, social, or physical life.
Apathy can be object-specific — toward a person, activity or environment. It is a common reaction to stress where it manifests as "learned helplessness" and is commonly associated with depression. It can also reflect a non-pathological lack of interest in things one does not consider important.

yeah, i think apathy would be the correct word

i think thanksgiving break will be good for me

back on a positive note

i registered for spring classes today! yay! i am pretty happy about next years courses.
they are as followed:
MWF:
9=chapel
10=theater design I
11=theater history II
12=nutrition
1=christian home (bible)

TR:
9=chapel
1-3:30=anatomy and physiology II

and then when i dont have class until 5 on all of those days i will be working. either in the nursing building again or with spring sing build crew. i havent talked to sully to see which days he would rather me work for that, but sometime i will be. so thats cool. and good thing about spring sing build crew, once its over, i no longer have work, so then i have that time free! that will be nice.
but no more anything after 5 this semester!! yay!! no class!! yay!!
of course i will have theater stuff im involved in, but no classes!! yay!
that makes me happy
very happy

LIFE IS TOO SHORT

soooo.................................................................................................................................................................................... you probably want to stop reading this soon cause its just a big rant about how there are not enough hours in the day to do everything i need to do....

first, BLAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

second i am feeling very unmotivated to do school work. i am ready for the break. i am ready for my mind to be clear and focused. i am ready to know what i want in life. i am ready not to be stressed. i am ready for this semester to be over. i am ready for alot of things....

lets see...this week i have to:
read and take a quiz over the play "macbeth"
get my car fixed
go watch an athletic practice
write a report about that athletic practice
go to "wit" rehearsal starting at 6 ever day for the rest of this week
study for a KINS 302 test that is over way to much information
study for an anatomy and physiology test that is alot of info i dont know that i have to memorize
make a key for anatomy and physiology tonight actually....for bonus
clean for health and safety...which actually isnt that big of a deal...just have to do it
do 4 assignments for movement...oh boy. assignments i dont enjoy doing...which i just remembered about again
along with 17 hours of class work...

remind me again when i can do all of this?

.....hopefully life will be better after this week is over. i will make it through this week and just live with whatever happens or doesnt happen. and then i can relax some over the break and...yeah....

please pray for this week though...i might need it :-\

3, 2, 1 story's done

piper tour is over :-( it was a bitter sweet ending. bitter because this past week has been so much fun playing with kids and with fellow pipers, but sweet because we were all so tired by the end of the week and kinda ready to get back home. we were missing people back home.
now to tell you a little about the rest of the week after the first day. i don't exactly remember what days or when some of these shows were because the shows just all kind of blend together. on thursday and friday we had 5 shows both days, which made the total for this tour 17 shows. not too shabby. thursday we went to Vanderbilt's Children's Hospital, which was very cool. there weren't very many kids that could come personally to see us, but we were being videoed and broadcast into all of the other kids rooms, so they got to watch us on their tv. that was very cool. i really liked going there a lot; sweet sweet kids. we went to another Y.E.S center, more elementary schools, a preschool (which i almost said the word "crap" at in front of 2 and 3 year olds....oops), and an after school drama thing (which was less like a show, more like, this is what we do and how we do it). the theater thing we did was after school and before their play rehearsal, and we did a short show and they got to ask us questions afterward and we told them about pipers and being a piper, and stuff like that. so that was a little different and neat. nice way to end a tour.
friday night we went to eat at the cheesecake factory, which is a great place, and then we went and played lazer tag!! that was my first time ever to play, it was fun! i got 14th place, out of 22 people...not too shabby for first time. the girls played one game, and then we let the boys stay and play another game. lazer tag was fun though, i definitely would like to go again.
then saturday we went out to little shops and thrift stores and a book store, and got to do some shopping. that was cool. i love thrift stores. then we went home.

so to summarize, it was an amazing and successful tour, and i LOVE the pied pipers!!!

now to catch up and go back to school :-\

We're the PIED PIPERS!

soooo today was our first day of shows for our fall tour in Nashville Tennessee!!! and it was greatness! we did seven shows! crazy, but sooo much fun. seven actually isnt that bad. we did an david lipscomb elementary show in the morning which was preschool and kindergarten. that was cute. then we went to the nashville public library and did three shows in their childrens story room; which was amazing!! it was soo cool! it had inset seats along three of the walls and a stage (which we didnt use, because it had their story stuff on it). and it was wooden and just really really cool. and then we got an hour break before our next show, which was really nice, i took a little nap, very much needed. then we had another show....dont remember where...lets ask jodi. oh yeah, we went to another elementary school. that group was very energetic. it was a very multicultural school (like, there were some girls there that were muslim and wore the head coverings and everything). and they were very huggy. we talked about after how it didnt seem like they got alot of physical attention at home because they wanted lots of hugs. i really liked it. they were very happy to have us there. then we went to target just so we could walk around and have a little free time. then we went to Y.E.S. which stands for youth encouragment [something]. and it is an after school program for intercity kids and that was probably my favorite show of the whole day!!! i love hanging out with those intercity kids. at first some of them were a little reserved, but it didnt take long for them to open up, and once they did...oh man. they were alot of fun. and after the piper show we stayed alittle and just played with them, and we did little sally walker, and one of the girls taught me and jodi the soldier boy dance and...it was fun. lots of fun. then that night we went to jodi's church from dinner and we did a show for all of the kids there too. and when i say all, i mean all. it ranged from the pre-k kids to the highschoolers and even parents. that was fun. had some bonding time with some of the highschool girls there.

fun fun fun fun fun

oh man. and its only the first day!! w00t for the rest of the week!

dont have a title for this one...

i am really glad to be leaving tuesday for almost a whole week. from tuesday to saturday. it will be very nice. i will greatly enjoy the break. i need it. i need to get away from here for awhile. have fun with kids, have fun with pipers. think about things in life that need to be thought about...

i think sometimes god gives you what you think you want...and then you realize that its not really what you wanted after all...

interesting

We're off to see the Wizard...

...the wonderful Wizard of Oz...is OVER!!!

this weekend was homecoming and tonight was our last show for the musical! its a good feeling. not saying that the musical wasnt fun, because it was, i enjoyed it for the most part very much. and i will miss hanging out back stage with my fellow shift crew, and seeing the friends i have in the musical whenever they werent on stage, bugging adam sullivan, and being ninjas, along with all that other fun stuff that goes on during musical rehearsals and shows. and i loved the friendships and bonds made/strengthened through out this process. but its over! and for this i am happy! that means no more all nighters. that means no more all afternoon rehearsals. that means no more moving huge pieces of scenery from underneath!
but it also means getting to see my roommate while she's actually awake; getting to see my friends that arent involved in the musical; getting to do homework (odd that im saying that, but not being behind in classes and having time to do work you have to do anyway is a good thing).

now, usually after a show is over, and you gain all this free time back into your life its hard to adjust for awhile because you just sit there and you dont know what to do because you havent had time to just do nothing before. although, for me this will not be the case. right after this the pied pipers are leaving on a fall tour to nashville tennessee!! and i am toooooo excited! we leave tuesday at 1:30 and we will be getting back saturday night. i can not wait to go away for a week and get out of searcy for awhile, and be with the amazing piper troupe and see tons of kids!! good stuff
on other piper news, we had a home show today for homecoming. it was alot of fun and went very well i would say. we had 12 of the "veteran" pipers there at the show and they (of course) came up and joined us for some of the stories. that was fun. i like watching the old ones get back up there and do their "piper thing." lol. we also go to perform for our friends and family. and that was fun. i tell my friends about the pipers and what we do so often, and im glad they got the chance to come and actually see us do a show. and i thank every single one of them who came!

its day light savings time! horray! hour extra sleep! goodnight!

across the universe

is AMAZING! i was blessed with no Oz rehearsal tonight, so david, leah, noelani, kenny, and i went to go see "across the universe" and it was great! there were acouple of slightly odd scenes and some slight nudity (artsy mostly though), but i loved all of it, every minute!
and it was a fun night. fun had by all, so thats always good.
tonight i get to sleep!!! yay!!! i didnt go to sleep thursday night because we had an all nighter in the benson for Oz stuff and i stayed and helped with that. soo yeah, i have been up for a VERY long time, and i am happy about sleeping and sleeping in! w00t!!

so on that note, goodnight xo

"...do it anyway"

life is...interesting. not everything works out like you might want it to, but you have to always look for those positives and know that god is in control and he will bless you with something amazing. and although this requires more patience than i would like to give it sometimes, its something worth looking forward too...

but on other notes...i didnt have musical rehearsal tonight, which was nice. i got to go to my wednesday night bible study, which i am really enjoying. i also had my A&P test today, which i think i did alright on. not wonderful, i could definitely have done better, but it shouldnt be too bad. and now i dont have to worry about alot of studying for that for awhile, at least while Oz is going on. and the week is half way over! good stuff

hanging out

...literally
tonight we had 1st rehearsal for shift crew for the wizard of oz and i move the porch during the tornado scene. only i move it from underneath. meaning that i am laying in a harness and sling and i use my hands and feet to spin it and move it off stage.
we did this for at least an hour
i hung for at least an hour
but in all honesty, it wasnt that bad
its odd
i like it

my life is about to become very hectic...

1, 2, 3, once upon a time...

so, today was our first piper show/tour!!! and oh boy what i first piping experience it was! we had 5 shows today and it was great. we went to two different elementary schools (with 2 shows each) and then we went to the sunshine school and performed which is a school for physically and mentally handicapped people. and all of the shows were great! the first one was kinda of "eh" because it was the first time for this troupe to perform together for kids and for four of us it was our first piper show EVER, but the shows just got better and better and the day as a whole was great! what a way to start the year off, unfortunately one of our pipers couldnt join us though. andy frye woke up with bad back spasms and couldnt get out of bed, so we went by his room to give him medicine and wished him well on our way to the first school. on the bus we went over the stories that he has specific lines in (which lucky for us pipers, we have few stories that arent completely improved) and we made sure all of his lines/things he does were covered. and we did pretty well at remembering to cover them in shows. not perfect :-P but pretty well. cant wait to pipe with him in a show though, we were sad he was hurting.

and so yeah, that was our first piping experience of the year and it was great! and all of us new pipers really feel like we are officially pipers now and we are much more confident about what we are doing. omgoodness, so much fun!

other than that life has just been going like normal. busy but good.

midterm grades are up and i am not doing as well as i would like....im not doing bad, but im one of those A students and likes making A's and right now i have 2 A's and 5 B's....not horrible but not as well as i would like. and one of my A's is in my hardest class (anatomy and physiology). and i am pretty sure that some of those B's are high B's and wouldnt be very hard to bump up to A's, i just need to stay focused a little more on school work and remembering to complete online stuff and things like that. especially in this second half of school because life is just going to get busier with me with theater stuff, with the musical crunch time coming and then Wit rehearsal starting after that and with pipers still. soo yeah, i just need to organize my time properly and stay on top of things and i think i can get some of those B's up and hopefully keep the A's i have (trig shouldnt be a problem, but anatomy is a difficult class).

so that is where school is at, and that is where performing life is at...and now it is bed time
xoxo

busy busy busy

soo.....so far everything i have put into my life hasnt been too hard to juggle and work with which is very good, and i just hope it continues to be that way. i need to remind myself to schedule rest time into my schedule next semester. might be a nice thing to have...but as said before, it hasnt been too bad so far. i got my first pay check today!! w00t! it wasnt too shabby for being just a weeks worth of pay. i think it will get my by :-) i really like my job working in the nursing office. sometimes its a little slow and dragging, but for the most part i like it. i like the people i work with. good things. hmmm lets see...this was my first week to do the "america reads tutoring" thing. and so in the mornings on tuesday and thursday from 11-11:30 i go to kensett elementary with 1st grade and have some of the kids read to me individually. thats cool, i like that. and then from 2-3 i go to westside elementary with 2nd grade and i've been helping this little boy named fernando with reading. if you read a story too him he is pretty good with knowing what you read him and answering some basic questions about the story, but he has a little trouble with specific stuff and he really struggles with reading. he has trouble with words that my first graders are reading to me. soo, thats kinda sad cause i wanna help him and help him learn english better (he's from Honduras) but we had fun today reading the story and answering some questions i asked to make sure he was understanding. he is soo adorable. i have a bible test tomorrow and a scene performance in acting tomorrow. oh boy. i dont really know how the bible test is going to go because its our first one, and his class is kinda random...i dont know. but i dont think it will be hard. so thats that. and my acting scene my acting partner and i have been working on it all week, and i think it will be pretty good. the scene is called "sure thing" and its a bell scene. were the ultimate goal is for the two people to be together, but because of their own or the other persons responses that goal keeps getting turned down and so every time that happens (when the relationship isnt moved forward) a bell rings and they start over. so its pretty cool. i like the scene. and today when we were practicing we had a "break through" you could say. it takes place in a coffee shop and so we WERE sitting at a round coffee table. but i felt really constricted by that and wanted to just get away! sooooo i decided to try it with a "couch" instead and we did it like that and liked it so much better. so we perform tomorrow, and we shall see how the teacher likes it :-\
hmmm oh yeah. so while i was home my friend mary told me about a paramore and the almost concert in november and asked if i wanted to go, because that will be a great concert!! and so i looked online and found out that its the saturday when we get out for thanksgiving break, so that works perfectly!! and i asked my friend from school natalie if she wanted to go too because she loves paramore, and she is! soo yay!! we are going to a show november 17th and it will be great, im excited!
and thats pretty much it for now. just wanted to give a quick update because i havent in a week or so.
well off to do work...byes xox

start of week 4

its very late, so this wont be a long one, but just wanted to give a quick update since i have failed to do so since my first. this past weekend the pipers had our piper retreat at camp takoda, and that was a blast. there was so much laughing, we were non stop having a good time. we worked most of saturday and came up with some good stuff and us new pipers got kinda used to doing things in skits and whatnot. we played this game called "crazy 8 ball," which was really fun! number off and that is your order and then the goal is the hit the 8 ball with the cue ball before it goes in a pocket or stops rolling. only other people infront of you are trying to make the ball do those things (if they are good and arent just worried about hitting the ball, like me) and also you can only through the ball from the ends of the table, no moving it from the side. and then from there it is kinda like "horse" only instead of spelling horse you spell PIPERS (you get a letter everytime the ball stops or goes in the pocket). so yeah, we played that game alot and that was a really fun game with lots of running around the table. it was a tiring but very awesome weekend.
lets see....i had my first anatomy and physiology test monday. yikes. i could have been a little more prepaired for that test. not looking forward to seeing my grade on this one. granted i was gone the whole weekend before the test, i could have studied more before the weekend and started earlier. but now all these are things i know for the next test, which i hope to get more study time in for. and for now i am just waiting to see what the first test ended up being. man, talk about a test though. first it was 4 chapters and the first beginning chapters only have a bajillion things you have to flat memorize (regional terms, characteristics and such of all of the tissue cell types). lots of information. probably close to 200 questions. around there. so we shall see.
tonight i had a hot date with marie :-) because we dont have guys to go out with so we have a minigirls night and go see a movie with eachother. and on tuesdays the cinema is only $3, so what better reason to go see a movie. and tyler perring, a fellow piper and my color partner ended up going with us too because he said he wanted to see the movie. so we went and saw that and it was pretty good. not a great movie or anything, but alright. we had fun non the less. and made me want to love my kids (when i have them) more than anything and cherish them and never get so up the social food chain that i feel the need to hire a nanny. :-P

well off to bed for me for preparation of another full day of school-ness
xoxo

Year two beginnings

so, it is the beginning of a new year here at harding university. and these first two weeks have been great!! my roommate (leah) and i finally have our room set up and mostly decorated! so that is good news! a group of our friends have a suite together down our hall, so thats even better news! and just seeing friends again and hanging out again has been great.
i have to admit, my class schedule kinda stinks alot this semester, but sometimes you just cant help it. so far all my classes are going very well. we havent had many grades (if any) yet, so im not sure how hard the course work is going to be (tests, etc). i should be ok. just in case any one wanted to know, the classes i am taking this semester are the following:

prevention and treatment of injuries
acting one
life of christ
theater production (tech class, we just work on the big shows going on...this semester that would be the musical)
anatomy and physiology
trigonometry
theater movement

so there you have it. and if 17 hours wasnt enough to keep me busy this semester i am also the historian for our theater club (campus players/APO), and involved in the musical. we are doing "the wizard of oz" for homecoming and i am one of the dog handlers. so far i am only going to rehearsal on sundays because we have i think 5 dog handlers. but depending on how well the dog responds to me and others they might low that number closer to show time or for the show...we arent really sure how they are going to do that yet. so i have that, and then i am also the props master for a play called "three viewings" which is a student directed play going up in october. im excited for when full cast and crew rehearsals start for that because i am really looking forward to working with the director, this girl is amazing. she studied for a year at NYU in their theater department and then left to come to harding, and she is quite talented (and very humble about herself). and the thing that i am most excited about being a part of starting this year is a group called Pied Pipers!!!
the pipers are a childrens theater troupe that performs for preschool-6th grade mostly (they have done older age group shows as well), and they also perform at church stuff and at VBS and some things like that. i tried out for this group last year and made call-backs but didnt make it in, and so i tried out again this year and got called back again! and this year i made it with my best friend amber (who i became bf's with last year at piper tryouts)!!!! and we are both way too excited!!! i was so happy when i found out, it is going be an amazing experience i can not wait to start!! the other two people that made the new pipers with us i really like and if i could have picked the list i would have picked them too, so all is well with that and we are going to have an awesome group! we start rehearsals tuesday (every tuesday and thursday from 6:30-8:30) so we are getting straight down to it, and i couldnt be happier!
other good news (kinda) is that i found an on campus job friday. i am now working in the nursing office on monday, wednesday, and friday from 11 am - 1 pm. so its only 6 hours a week, but that is better than nothing, so im fine with that. the only down fall to this is that 11-1 was my break on m, w, f so now i am in class/work from 9am-6:30 straight! on fridays just 9-4 pm straight. and i mean, straight! after 9:00 chapel i have about 25-30 mins to get something to eat and then i am on the go from there. so im not thrilled about that, but hey, have to earn money.

well, i think that is pretty much all that has happened and all there is to know about the first two weeks of school. that was a pretty long post...most wont be that long, but alot has happened in the first two weeks, and that just kinda catches everyone up on life so far :-)
